2015 was a landmark year for global development with the adoption of 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
For the first time in history, we now have an ambitious global plan to end poverty and make our world a better and more sustainable one.
To reach the Goals is no simple job. More than 800 million people live in extreme poverty, the globe is getting warmer and war and conflict is present in many hotspots around the world.
To reach the Goals, being better at what we already do is not enough. The world needs new thinking and transformative ideas. The shortcoming of public funding requires new ideas, partnerships and solutions that can galvanize civil society, private sector, youth and others to help us realize the Global Goals.
We wish to contribute to the Global Goals framework. As such, Dalberg has asked 17 thought-leaders from around the world to come up with their best big bet on how to realize the Global Goals. The results have been remarkable and resulted in the book “17 Big Bets for a Better World”. Building on the book, Dalberg is establishing a number of Match-Up Meetings in selected global hotspots, focusing on Big Bets or transformative ideas for the realization of the Global Goals agenda.
